What is a Low Incidence Program?

School based program to support the unique learning needs of students. The program is designed to support and serve students in an intensive and/or modified program for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Other Health Impairment, and those with multiple or severe disabilities.

Eagle Room Emphasis

The Eagle Room will focus on the following areas:

  • Environment

  • Academics

  • Communication

  • Emotional Regulation

  • Staff Development

Vision of Program

To teach students with Low Incidence Disabilities the necessary skills needed to be successful in the general education classroom so they can transition from an intensive service model back to less intensive services in the resource or general education environment. To be a model program for other schools in LCSD#1 and beyond.

The Eagle Room is not:

  • a “decompression room” for children with conduct/behavior issues.

  • a resource or therapy room for children with learning disabilities or speech/language impairments.

  • a district-wide program where children are transferred from other schools in Cheyenne.

  • a replacement for other self-contained programs in Cheyenne (ie. LIFE, EDT)

Program at Arp Elementary is designed to:

  • Provide programming and support for students in all grades with a focus on kindergarten through 6th grade.

  • Teach students the necessary skills needed to be successful in the general education environment.

  • Be an integral part of a continuum of services for children with low incidence disabilities at Arp Elementary School.

  • Be a targeted resource room for children with significant educational, adaptive, and communication needs.

  • Employ best practices and research principles.
