Eagle Squad

Eagle Squad

Purpose: Our school is committed to supporting the unique needs of military-connected students as they transition into our school community. The “Eagle Squad” program ensures that each new military-connected student feels welcomed, supported, and connected from their very first day.

Program Overview: The Eagle Squad is a group of trained student leaders who serve as peer ambassadors for newly enrolled military-connected students. Their role is to assist in the transition process by offering friendship, guidance, and practical help navigating the school environment.

Program Components:

  1. Welcome and Introduction
    • Each new military-connected student is paired with one or more Eagle Squad members.
    • Upon arrival, the Eagle Squad greets the student and their family, helping them feel immediately included in our school community.
  2. Welcome Packet
    • The family receives a Welcome Packet that includes:
    • A letter from school administration
    • Information about school routines, activities, and resources
    • A list of key staff contacts
    • A student handbook
    • Information about community and military family resources
  3. Peer Support and Integration
    • Eagle Squad members give a guided tour of the school, showing key locations such as   classrooms, cafeteria, library, nurse’s office, and playground.
    • They sit with new students at lunch and spend time with them at recess during the first week to help them build friendships and feel comfortable.
    • They check in regularly during the first month to ensure a smooth adjustment.
  4. Ongoing Connection
    • Eagle Squad members and staff maintain open communication with new students to monitor their transition progress.
    • Periodic check-ins are conducted to ensure that students and families feel connected and supported.

Leadership and Oversight: The Eagle Squad operates under the guidance of our school social worker and military liaisons.

Goal: To foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that helps military-connected students successfully transition into our school and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
